Why am I mentoring there
I was once asked to participate and I was impressed of the organizing level, startups quality. At mentoring sessions we found lots of common ground. I myself studied in universities when I was a father, founder at survival mode, CEO of a successful business. Therefore, as a mentor, one gets to meet a variety of interesting people with different ideas and from different fields with different experiences. It’s sort of being adequate for me as well, keeping the pulse of what’s boiling there…
One thing remained relevant throughout these interesting meetings we had. Our competences often didn’t match. What I’ve learnt through hard way or easy way, is not what they have learnt. Combining skills, knowledge, expertise, network and fitting it all into startup world instructing them to get off flying high, easy and fast enough, is rewarding both emotionally and financially.
Brain food is usually what triggers me to do some good. Analyzing new patterns and problems, developing new systems – that is both inspiring and interesting for me. If not rewarded financially, at least I did my contribution to society and kept someone off making costly mistakes I’ve done already.
What would be my possible end-game to look forward
To be frank with you, I am not a super fan of hackathon type of events as I was used to be asked if there is something I can help with. It gives me an opportunity to evolve myself, to learn a new format, to fit in and find my calling/structure in it.
Am looking forward to deal with new problems, work with new teams, to advise, mentor, and/or coach in balance needed at the time and dependent of teams’ personality needs.
Am always looking for brain food and possibly a problem to attack myself to. For 3 years now I’ve been involved with number of stealth operating startups, mostly short-term. And it isn’t so fulfilling as one might expect.
A man needs a flag, a company, a country and a problem to fight for.
So join the hackathon and help to make a difference!
